Geography:
Located in Northern Africa. It borders the Red Sea and is between Egypt and Enitrea. Mountains are in the far south, northeast, and west, while the desert dominates the north. It is also the largest country in Africa and is dominated by the Nile River.


Population:
Sudan has a population of about 40,187,486 as of 2005.

Culture:
70% of the Sudanese are Muslim, 5% are Christian, and the remaining 25% have indigenous beliefs. Here they speak Arabic as well as English.

Natural Resources:
Some natural resources the had attracted Great Britain here were petroleum, iron ore, zinc, mica, silver, gold, and tungsten.

Some of the exports were oil and petroleum products; cotton, seasame, livestock, groundnuts, gum arabic and sugar. Some of there imports are foodstuff, manufactured goods, refinery and transport equipment, medicines and chemicals, textiles, and wheat.

Climate:
It is tropical in the South, arid and dry in the North, and the rainy season varies by the region.

Natural Hazards:
There are many dust storms and periodic droughts due to lack of water and dry air.

Positive effects:

  • Advances in agriculture.
  • Introduction on modern medicines.

Negative effects:

  • Land was taken by other countries.
  • Little land belonged to Africa.
  • Split up ethnic groups into separate countries.
  • Combined enemy ethnic groups together.
  • Death from foreign disease.
  • Places left underdeveloped.
  • Destruction of culture.
  • Imperialist leaders replaced by dictators.
